Hiking the Wildcoast of Mpondoland

(with leader and activist Sinegugu Zukulu)

We walk this Mpondoland path not to escape life,
But to return to it more truthfully.

To return to the body.
To breathe.
To brotherhood.
To spirit.

Out here, where ancient cliffs hold the memory of thunder and the grasslands breathe in long, unbroken lines, we remember the quiet knowing we have forgotten:

that we are enough,
that we are needed,
that we are already home.

If something in your soul stirs as these hills open before you,
If the land whispers your name in the silence between heartbeats,
Then know this …

Your journey has already begun

Transcendence is more than just a word … it’s a remembering of your original wholeness. To transcend is to levitate above all hurdles … ancestral, societal, internal. It is the journey back to the unshakable centre of your being. It is the courageous YES to your becoming.

Because there comes a moment in a person’s life when they can no longer remain only who the world has told them to be.

Transcendence is that moment.

It is the doorway where the wound becomes the teacher, where the earth becomes the elder, where the breath becomes the bridge back to the self they abandoned along the way. It is the rising beyond survival and the remembering of what is ancient in them … dignity, tenderness, courage, presence.

Transcendence calls a person back to their sacred centre … the still point in the storm … the place where they can hold both their father’s grief and their child’s laughter in the same breath.

It is the path where they no longer chooses domination or disappearance, but balance … fierce, humble, alive.

A person who steps into transcendence becomes medicine for the world.

Why Transcendence?

Who is this for

The Transcendence Wilderness Retreat is for all adults who feel a quiet but unmistakable call to step beyond survival patterns, inherited identities, and the noise of modern life.

It is for those standing at a threshold … leaders, seekers, healers, creatives, and elders-in-the-making … Who are ready to meet themselves honestly in wild landscapes, guided by ancient ceremonies, silence, and deep presence.

This retreat is not about escape or performance; it is for those prepared to release what no longer serves, listen to the land, and return with clarity, humility, and a renewed sense of purpose rooted in right relationship with self, community, and Earth

What to expect

In the heart of mPondoland, along the untamed edge of the Wild Coast, expect to be met by land that does not negotiate or hurry. Days are shaped by ocean air, river crossings, ancient forests, and long horizons that invite honesty and humility.

You will move slowly, guided by ceremony, silence, and intentional companionship, allowing the body to soften and the deeper self to speak. Fire at night, walking by day, and time alone with the elements create space to shed what is no longer true and remember what is essential.

This is a place where insight arrives quietly, strength returns to its natural rhythm, and clarity is earned through presence rather than effort.

The Sacred Journey Begins

Our Transcendence Retreat opens in Ndengane Village, where the spirit of Mpondoland rises from the earth like an old, living song. Here, the land does not simply welcome us … it awakens us.

As we step from the village pathways into the vast green cliffs, we cross our first threshold. The sea roars below, the wind blesses our skin, and the soil beneath our feet reminds us that every true journey begins with surrender.

In this place of ancient memory, our ceremonies of purification, intention, and release take root. Through heat, sweat, breath, and silence, we soften, shed, and remember who we truly are.

Together, guided by this wild coastline and held by ancestral presence, we step into the unknown … not as visitors, but as pilgrims returning to ourselves.

Here in Ndengane, Transcendence begins.
